Welcome to the Northern California Gold Rush Chapter of the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA)! The Gold Rush Chapter has over 400 members representing a wide array of solid waste management professionals in both the public and private sectors.
MOLO Certification Event
The Gold Rush Chapter hosted a successful MOLO certification event in Lodi. Thirty-three solid waste professionals participated. Manager of Landfill Operations is SWANA's flagship certification course.
Thanks to longtime SWANA members James Moore and John Costa for instructing and to San Joaquin County for hosting the facility tour component of the class.

TOUR: New Commercial Waste Transfer Building
North Area Recovery Station (NARS)
4450 Roseville Road, North Highlands, CA 95660
1:15 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.
The new Commercial Waste Transfer Building at NARS is a $42 million project to upgrade the capacity, safety, and efficiency of the facility. The new concrete tilt-up structure provides a 315-foot by 163-foot column-free interior operations space, large enough to play a football game! The building has four gravity top-load ports, eight back-in 28-foot-high commercial access doors, and innovations in fire control, odor management, push-wall construction, and vehicle circulation. Come join us for the tour!
• Travel time from the County office to NARS is approximately 30 minutes.
• Please bring a high-visibility vest, hard hat, and sensible construction footwear.
