Air Permitting

Air permitting requirements affect many of our projects. Join us for this enlightening conversation about air quality monitoring and source testing tools for streamlining organic waste project permitting and compliance, the upcoming BAAQMD regulations and their impact on the solid waste industries, and pathways to navigate the confusion that the EPA has created with landfill NSPS, EG, and NESHAP’s rules.

Topics and Speakers Include

Air Quality Monitoring and Source Testing Tools for Streamlining Organic Waste Project Permitting and Compliance (Greg Wolffe, C.P.P. – Principal Scientist, Yorke Engineering, LLC.)

Mr. Wolffe has over 30 years in environmental research and professional consulting services. Mr. Wolffe has supported government and commercial organizations in assessing air quality impacts for large multi-year new facility construction projects and major and minor source facility modifications, optimized projects for emission reduction credits with permitting agencies, conducted air dispersion modeling analysis to evaluate potential impacts on state and federal ambient air quality standards, evaluated toxic air contaminant emissions for health risk assessments (HRAs), and proposed project mitigation.

Upcoming BAAQMD Regulations and Their Impact on the Solid Waste Industries (City of Sunnyvale - Deepti Jain)

Deepti Jain has over twelve years of experience in the field of air quality compliance and permitting in the public sector. From 2008 to March 2019, she has worked on enforcement and implementation of air-quality regulations at the Air District. She has extensive knowledge of the state and local regulatory framework applicable to landfills, transfer stations and composting operations and was integral part of the core rule development efforts related to the solid waste regulations.

In April 2019, Ms. Jain joined City of Sunnyvale Solid Waste Division, as Environmental Engineering Coordinator. In her current role, she verifies and ensures City’s compliance with environmental regulations and permits issued by CalRecycle, BAAQMD and CARB. She is lead for City’s response to SB1383 and BAAQMD Reg 13-2/13-3 and has been recently invited to participate in the technical work group formulated by the Air District for Reg 13-2 – Organic Material Handling Operations.
